YOUR HAIR RESTORATION EXPERIENCE
At Gallery of Aesthetics, we provide clinically proven hair restoration treatments to combat brittle, weak, and thinning hair. Minoxidil and Finasteride are among the hair restoration treatments we offer in our South Jordan office. Tried and true, Minoxidil and Finasteride have been used for decades. They are considered to be the most popular and clinically proven treatments for hair loss on the market.
Minoxidil
Available as a prescription or over the counter, Minoxidil can be applied to the scalp as a liquid, foam, or spray and works by stimulating blood flow to your scalp and hair follicles. By stimulating blood flow, Minoxidil allows more nutrients and oxygen to flow to your hair follicles and promotes healthy new hair growth.
Finasteride
Available as a prescription, Finasteride is a hormonal medication that comes in pill form. Finasteride works by blocking the source of hair loss, a powerful androgenic hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
BENEFITS OF MINOXIDIL:
- Stimulates new hair growth
- Sheds dormant hair follicles
- Non-invasive/can be applied topically
- Clinically proven
BENEFITS OF FINASTERIDE:
- Clinically proven
- Stops hair loss at its source
- 15% increase in hair growth after two years

Minoxidil is a vasodilator that works by widening blood vessels and increasing blood flow in certain areas of the body. Applied to the scalp, Minoxidil stimulates blood flow and helps hairs in a resting state (known as the telogen phase) to shed and promotes the growth of new, healthy follicles in the growing (anagen) phase.
In the beginning, stages of use, you may experience increased hair shedding. However, this is only temporary! This hair loss results from Minoxidil stimulating blood circulation and triggering your inactive hairs to shed. Once this shedding process has taken place, new hairs can grow in their place, resulting in a thicker, fuller head of hair over time.
Finasteride is a hormonal medication that you take in a pill form. It works as a 5α-reductase inhibitor. This means it prevents hair loss by stopping testosterone from being converted into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a powerful androgenic hormone that damages hair follicles in men.
Yes! Several studies show that Minoxidil and Finasteride can be used safely together. These drugs work differently; Minoxidil stimulates new hair growth, while Finasteride slows or stops hair loss. Our qualified medical provider will determine if a combination treatment is right for you during your consultation.
During your consultation, we will carefully review your health history and any other medications you are taking to ensure there are no contraindications. We will also consider your hair loss and goals to help you determine an optimal course of treatment.
