BBL stands for BroadBand Light, a non-invasive light treatment designed to intensely stimulate the skin and trigger the growth of healthy new collagen without ever breaking the surface of the skin. This allows for dramatic skin improvements with minimal to no downtime.
BBL photofacial is an advanced form of intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment. Just like its name, your photofacial will stimulate your skin with intense pulses of light without breaking the surface. As the light hits your skin, it may feel like a rubber band is snapping against it. This sensation lasts only for a moment, only while the light is hitting your skin. In the days following your treatment, you will notice brighter skin, faded dark spots, reduced redness and many other possible complexion improvements with no downtime.
BBL photofacials work by applying BroadBand Light energy to the skin, stimulating new collagen and elastin growth while improving pigmentation irregularities on the surface.
During your BBL treatment, you will relax while we apply the BBL applicator to your skin, slowly working our way around your face, neck or chest with stimulating light energy. As the light hits your skin, patients have described the sensation as feeling like a rubber band snapping against your skin. The slight sting lasts for only a second.
Right after your session, your skin may feel slightly sun-burned, but most people experience only a slight flushing that resolves on its own within an hour.
Our highly trained staff will help you determine if a BBL photofacial is best for your skin needs and goals during your personal consultation, but generally, BBL photofacials can help anyone who is looking to correct issues of hyperpigmentation or sun damage and achieve a more evenly toned complexion. BBL photofacials are not safe for people with darker skin tones on the Fitzpatrick scale.
Because BBL photofacials do not break the surface of the skin, there is generally minimal to no downtime! Immediately after treatment, you may experience skin redness or a sunburned feeling, but these side effects are minor and typically resolve on their own within an hour or two following treatment.
